Arthur Mendonça takes Liz Taylor’s Cleopatra underwater:

Thursday, October 20, 2011

Is there a better inspiration than Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra? We thought not, until Arthur Mendonça set the vision for beauty at his Spring 2012 show: Cleopatra emerging from water. Eddie Malter, official makeup artist for L’Oreal Paris, used H.I.P. High Intensity Pigment Eyeshadow Duos “224” and “207,” blending layers of blue, turquoise, and silver to achieve the effect of water reflecting on the face—a look certainly worthy of modern Egyptian goddesses. Brows were left natural and lips subtle, done in a beige Infallible Le Rouge lip colour (“814”) and covered with gloss.

Jean Pierre Braganza does our fall favourite, the fishtail braid:

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

As huge fans of the fishtail, we were very excited to see this braided style at Jean Pierre Braganza. Backstage, Pantene’s consulting stylist Justin Germandescribed the look as softer than what Braganza showed in London, with the braid stemming from the base of a very bob-like shape. To achieve this structure, German went through the hair with some volumizer, then blow-dried it into the desired shape. An elastic at the base kept it all together, which German wrapped with hair after the fishtail was finished.
Up front, bold coral cheeks were care of Cover Girl makeup pro Greg Wencel who produced the “geometric but feminine” look with blush, lipstick, and the hard edge of a sponge. Cover Girl LipPerfection lipstick in “Fairy Tale” was applied across the high plate of the cheek, softened with blush, and then highlighted with the white end of a Cover Girl SmokyShadowBlast “Oynx Smoke” stick for a bit of shine and sparkle.
