While newlyweds William and Kate partied until the early hours at Buckingham Palace, some of the bride's friends rushed back to the village where she grew up to celebrate the wedding.
Kate Middleton's friends party in Buckleberry
Bucklebury in Berkshire, where the new Duchess of Cambridge's parents still live, ensured that celebrations marking the historic occasion carried on into the night.
John Haley, the owner of the Old Boot Inn in nearby Stanford Dingley, was one of several residents from the village to have attended the royal wedding and rushed back afterwards.
Mr Haley had to get back because he was throwing an invitation-only party for 350 guests in his pub, which is thought to be the Duchess's favourite.
He and his partner, Pam Brown, got back to Berkshire to find the party well under way with the beer garden and pub filled with local residents.
Mr Haley, who was still wearing his morning suit, said it had been a wonderful day.
