Afternoon beauty fix / A revitalizing treatment for hair? I dye:

Monday, October 17, 2011

The colour you’re dying your hair is a major factor in the damage department. If you’re going lighter than your natural shade you’ll need either a semi-permanent or permanent dye, though both employ hydrogen peroxide to remove the natural pigments in your hair. If you’re going darker, try choosing a demi-permanent dye instead—it doesn’t need to “lift” your hair before colouring and won’t deteriorate your hair’s strength nearly as much. Whichever way you’re going, you’ll likely benefit from using a treatment afterwards. We like Joico K-PAK Revitaluxe ($25, joico.com) because it holds old damage together with peptides that bind, and prevents future damage by pumping your hair full of amino acids with strength.
