Avoid shades with brown or beige undertones, and choose a pinky taupe or copper instead. The most flattering shades are close to your natural lip colour, with a subtle shimmer or shine. We like the rosy coral and gold ribbon in Nars’ “Beautiful Liar” ($24, atnarscosmetics.com) because it’s barely there but flattering, like fancy lingerie for the lips.
